Award for Innovation 2019 – Property Care Association UK Awards

Richardson & Starling are delighted to receive the Property Care Association UK 2019 Award for Innovation.

The award was presented at the annual best practice awards dinner held in Warwick University last Thursday. In addition, the company has also received two trophies for being Highly Commended in Training & Staff Development as well as Sustainability categories.

With over 400 members in the Property Care Association, we are very pleased that our efforts resulted in these awards.

“I would like to thank and congratulate all our R&S team for their contribution to deliver high standards which have again been recognised by our Trade Association.” said Graham Duncan, Managing Director at Richardson & Starling

The Innovation

Richardson & Starling have adopted an innovative approach to deal with vibration exposure issues while working with handheld tools.

Tasks like drilling holes, cutting bricks and shaping drainage channels are a part of every day life working in the damp proofing industry. All this vibration exposure can cause Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) that is irreversible.

Richardson & Starling firmly believe that vibration levels can be simply established in a straightforward and practical way to determine and control daily vibration exposure to our technicians. Therefore, we developed our independent vibration point system:

  • Work process vibration measured per metre or square metre of work activity;
  • Vibration points calculated at quotation stage and information given to technician with contract documentation;
  • Technicians trained to understand allowable points for work element and daily action values.
