Heritage Joinery Finishings at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
The Problem
As part of a wider project at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Richardson & Starling carried out finishing joinery works within a historic glasshouse.
Working in this heritage setting required careful attention to traditional joinery details. Each new element needed to complement the building’s character while fitting accurately around existing stonework and structural steel.
Our Approach
This stage of the project included new stair caps, low-level vents, and newly crafted internal and external doors.
Our team carefully fitted each element around the existing structure, matching traditional details and maintaining the standard of craftsmanship required within the glasshouse.
The installation of the internal and external doors marked the final joinery elements of our wider contract works. With the doors hung, they were ready for glazing and final finishing.
The Outcome
These finishing works brought together the care and attention to detail applied throughout our involvement in the project.
The new stair caps, low-level vents and doors sit sympathetically within the historic setting, respecting the glasshouse’s distinctive character and preparing it for the next stage of work.
